Repetition

These traceable alphabet letters worksheets will help your young kids learn repetition as well as develop fine motor skills.

Young children learn through repetition. Seeing and doing the same thing repeatedly helps them to retain the information they are taking in. In this case they are learning their letters through repetition.

If you want your child to learn a certain set of letters faster than others, such as the letters of their name, download the letters of their name multiple times and have them trace those letters repeatedly until they remember them.

The letter tracing worksheets were created with young children in mind. They were made with large print to make it easier for younger kids to be able to trace their letters.

Benefits of Letter Tracing

There are many benefits to tracing letters besides just the sheer enjoyment your kids get from the activity. Listed below are 4 of the benefits of letter tracing.

Fine Motor Skills

Developing fine motor skills gives kids the ability to become more independent with such things as buttoning their own buttons, brushing their own teeth and opening doors. Using the tracing letters worksheets will help them to develop their fine motor skills by strengthening their fingers, hands and wrists.

Concentration and Focus

As your child uses his fingers to hold his pencil and drag it across the letters on the page he is very focused on what he is doing. But more that just focusing on what he is doing he is also putting a lot of concentration into what he is doing. He has to concentrate on holding onto his pencil while making it connect with the paper. He also has to concentrate on keeping his pencil moving after it touches the page in order to trace the letters. As adults it comes naturally because we are used to it but for a young child there is a lot to concentrate and focus on in order to trace a few letters.

Hand/Eye Coordination

One important skill your child will develop is hand/eye coordination. This is the ability to use both your hands and your eyes at the same time to complete a task. Tracing letters helps to develop his ability to use his hands to do the task his eyes are seeing.

Pre-Writing Skills

Developing your child’s pre-writing skills is important during their preschool years. Tracing is a basic activity that kids love that will help them do that. Tracing letters teaches kids how to correctly hold a pencil. It helps with their fine motor skills and helps to strengthen their fingers and learn control over the direction their hand is going. All of these pre-writing skills will come in handy later on when your child starts to print and later to write.
